Is that battery quote actually worth it?
Battery Truth sizes a home battery against your own half-hourly smart-meter data, checks an installer’s savings claim against what your roof and your habits really produce, and — once it’s installed — tracks what it actually pays back. It is tied to no retailer or installer and takes no referral fee. The only thing it sells is the quote check itself, to you, at a price that does not depend on the answer.
Mock mode. No real accounts are connected. Every screen runs against a generated Victorian household — 6.6 kW of solar, a time-of-use tariff, two years of half-hourly readings and quarterly bills. The data path is identical to live mode; only the transport is swapped.
Try it on a demo household
Nothing is connected and no account is asked for. You’ll go straight into a generated Victorian household and can walk the whole tool end to end — sizing, quote check and payback — on its data. Connecting a real energy account is not available yet.
What it does
1. Sizes it honestly
Runs 5, 10, 14 and 20 kWh against your real interval data and charts what each extra kWh is actually worth. Most houses hit the point of diminishing returns well before the size they were quoted.
2. Checks the claim
Enter what the installer promised. You get the modelled figure beside it, and a plain explanation of the gap — usually that there isn’t enough winter surplus to fill the battery, or that lost feed-in credit was quietly left out.
3. Tracks what happens
After the install, compares like-for-like months before and after so the seasons don’t flatter the result, and shows how much has really been paid back against what the quote promised.
What it asks for, and why

Nothing else is requested. Your bank data is not asked for at all: the only thing it could tell us is which transaction was the battery purchase, which is two fields you type in once. Grant-management and machine-to-machine scopes are deliberately not asked for — you revoke access from your openfeed dashboard, not from here. What it keeps
Battery Truth cannot end its own access to your retailer — openfeed does not offer this app that permission — so sharing stays open until you end it yourself from your openfeed dashboard. We ask for no more than the readings, and we say so here rather than claiming a tidiness we cannot deliver. Your half-hourly readings are held only as long as needed to run the numbers, then deleted automatically. After that only daily totals and the results you asked for remain. Your bank is never connected at all. If you end sharing, every bit of your energy data here is deleted too — revoking at openfeed stops new data arriving, and deleting what has already arrived is our job. The single exception is a paid unlock, which we keep so that disconnecting never costs you something you bought; it holds no energy data and cannot be linked back to any. Full policy in the README.
